In support of the #CSForAll and #StateOfWomen initiatives, we created this event with the purpose of introducing middle school and high school girls to technology. There is a severe shortage of women in information systems and other technology-related fields and we hope to change that statistic! U Let Girls Code will be led by University of Utah students and faculty and Oracle employees, and is designed to be an opportunity for girls to explore technology in a fun, collaborative environment.
This event is for girls in grades 7 - 12 in any Utah school or home school. Girls do not need to have any prior coding experience.
The purpose of the event is to expose girls to coding. This year the curriculum focus is on SQL which is a common language for talking to a database. The girls will be solving a mystery through SQL.
The curriculum each year for this event is new so if your child attended last year, it will be new, interesting content for her this year.
Registration is free for all attendees thanks to our sponsors!
Light breakfast will be provided. Please inform us on the registration of any special dietary needs.
Due to space restrictions, we have strict registration limits. All attendees must be registered prior to the event. Parents must register their child. If you have any problems registering, please contact Dan at UTOUG.
